Asta and Yuno arrive at the same church as infants, abandoned on the same day. Growing up together, they learn about the "Wizard King," the title granted to the strongest mage in the kingdom. They make a promise to compete for that title one day. As they mature, however, stark differences emerge. Yuno wields magic with remarkable power and control, while Asta, unable to use magic, relies on rigorous physical training to develop his strength.
When they turn 15, Yuno receives an extraordinary Grimoire with a four-leaf clover, but Asta receives nothing. Soon after, a man named Lebuty attacks Yuno, seeking his Grimoire. Asta jumps in to defend him but struggles against Lebuty’s strength. Near defeat, Asta hears Yuno’s voice, giving him the determination to keep fighting. Driven by emotion, Asta summons a five-leaf clover Grimoire—a "Black Clover"—which grants him the power to defeat Lebuty.
A few days later, the two friends set out on their journey, each with the same dream: to become the Wizard King!
